Meditation classes

“Through a calm mind, you can achieve anything” – The saying can sound philosophical at first, but the underlying connotations are real. Thousands of years ago, when sages in the ancient period practiced meditation, they obtained marvels of great wisdom.

Meditation is a process. To meditate, we need to sit in a straight posture on the ground with legs folded inwards. While the arms should be stretched to touch our folded knees. During meditating, your eyes must be closed and focus should be on breathing.

Mere 20 minutes of meditation each day can help us become more positive and energetic. Here are some other benefits of meditation that enhance our overall mental well-being:

  1. Increased self-awareness: Meditation refers to spending time in complete silence with oneself. This practice helps us in understanding the worth of being calm and avoiding negative mindset. During meditation when we spend time with ourselves, it increases in understanding our own self, which leads to balanced self development.

  2. Curb stress and depression: With a fast paced lifestyle, we deal with several pressures. Issues of finances, our personal life or social relationships, add to daily stress. Meditation as healing technique provides viable cure for stress and depression. By increasing self awareness and a calm attitude, curbing stress and depression gets easy with meditation on a daily basis.

  3. Increase attention: Meditation puts focus on spending time alone, focused on simply our own being in the same posture for several minutes. This not only increases composure, but also improves our attention. We can focus on our daily tasks better and control our negative thought process.

  4. Treat anxiety: Life is a mix bag of experiences. And often, these experiences can be painful. In the process, we develop conditions like anxiety disorder, when slightest of incident can trigger fear and negative thinking patterns. For such conditions, meditation is highly beneficial.

Meditation benefits:

  1. Fight addictions: As per several studies, meditation is beneficial in controlling addictions and in breaking unhealthy emotional dependencies. With meditation and help of psychological therapies, addictions such as alcoholism, drugs or other kinds of psychological stress can be curbed far more quickly.

  2. Pain reduction: Pain is associated with our state of mind. Sometimes, we may feel pain at a superficial level. Meditation works for the improvement of mental wellness and helps us become more self-aware, physically. Studies show that meditation had positive impact on people who were more susceptible to pain by controlling their psychological triggers.

  3. Improvement in sleep: Insomnia has become a common condition. About 10-30% people in the world suffer from insomnia or have suffered from some kind of sleep disorder. Often, such conditions go untreated. Meditation helps in relaxing mind to a great extent which is primary requirement for a good sleep. It is a proven solution to create balanced state of mind and increase stillness, leading to improved sleep cycles.
